Miyamoto Musashi

The Way of the Sword

Japan's greatest swordsman, who wrote The Book of Five Rings. Musashi's program is built around traditional samurai conditioning — bodyweight strength, explosive movement, and the stillness of a warrior who has mastered his own body before mastering his sword.

Program Overview

Why This Program Works

Philosophy

Footwork & Agility, Upper Body Mastery, Recovery & Control, Endurance & Flow, and Full Body Explosiveness.

Physique Goal

Lean, controlled, and durable — real discipline, not bulk.

Performance Goal

Genuine agility and footwork speed, advanced bodyweight strength (L-sit, dragon flag), and real endurance.

How Progression Works

Bodyweight strength uses rep progression, then a harder variant in phase two. Agility work uses density progression. Target RIR drops from 3 to 2 across the two phases.

Training Philosophy

How Miyamoto Musashi Trains

Musashi's real discipline was total — footwork, upper-body mastery, and genuine mind-body control, not sword-swing repetitions. This program keeps that range honest: real agility work, advanced bodyweight strength, and a genuine recovery day built on real isometric and balance work.
